As the 3rd exhibition, Count Southpaw is now on the top page of our website.

He is the main character of “Secret Southpaw Society” , picture book published on the 7th of October, 2021.

The author is Nadya Kirillova from Russia, now based in Tokyo. She grew up in 6 different countries and experienced many things always as minority, so now she is trying to empower “rare kids” though picture books.

The theme  of this picture book is, as you can see, southpaw or left-handed. Maybe one of the closest minorities in our daily life.

Nadya is left-handed, as well. She was forced to use her right hand in many situations in several countries, but still continued to be left-handed. These experiences might be the source of the story.

There must be lots of left-handed people who have similar experiences! So why not become a society?

She put many unique ideas  into this book such as not only famous Left-handed people, but also left-handed creatures etc are introduced. Children can learn other people’s point of view while they are enjoying reading.

Cute illustrations are by Moe Furuya, and Junko Igarashi.

If you are Southpaw or not, please check it.
